Where is the best place to buy a new vacuum cleaner? Well, it really depends on what exactly you're looking for, as different online retailers (and the vacuum brands themselves) all offer their own product catalogues.

I'm Homes & Gardens' home tech editor, and when I cover and review vacuum cleaners (which is most days), I assess price as a big factor. The best tech in the world is useless to us if it's not available to the consumer, and over time I've learned exactly what each retailer offers in this regard, and where to find the best prices.

To make sure you're bringing home one of the absolute best vacuum cleaners, read on to find out where you should be looking.

The best places to buy vacuum cleaners, for every budget

There's a lot to consider when knowing how to choose the right vacuum cleaner. But one of the key considerations is how much it'll cost, and where exactly to look if you're still browsing. Below, you'll find all the info on where to shop for the best vacs, for all budgets and vacuum types.

How to find the best price

Before diving into where you can find the best prices on vacuum cleaners, it's worth knowing how to find the best price, for any product. As we cover prices and deals so extensively at Homes & Gardens, we've learned how to make sure we're putting the absolute best deals in front of our readers.

One way to do this is using an extension called Honey. You can add it to your browser so that when you're viewing a product page, it'll compare the price across other online retailers to see where you can get it the cheapest. You can also view price history to see whether the price is as good as the website claims, or if it's been hiked up and then reduced to look like a big discount.

Another great website is CamelCamelCamel, but it's exclusively for Amazon. Paste the Amazon product link into the site and you can view the entire price history, and it'll even show you if it's at its lowest price ever.

Amazon

At Homes & Gardens we cover all of the best deals on vacuum cleaners (along with other appliances and home products) throughout the year, particularly in big sale events like Black Friday. More often than not the best prices can be found at Amazon, and this is the same outside of sale seasons too.

It might not come as a surprise that Amazon offers lower prices, but I can say from experience when it comes to vacuums, it's often the best option. Of course this isn't always the case, but it's worth checking the site for any model you're looking for to see if you can find a better price.

QVC

QVC offers a much more hands-on approach. Famous for the TV shopping channel, most of the products found online feature a video where you can see it in action. This is super helpful when shopping for vacuum cleaners, as it's important to be able to see how maneuverable it is, how well it can clean, and how the design will look in your home.

Walmart

While Amazon tends to have lower prices, Walmart tends to have the better selection. You'll sometimes find that Amazon doesn't stock the exact vacuum model you're looking for, but Walmart typically has all of the latest cordless, upright, robot and handheld vacs from the big brands, as well as previous models and old stock that's reduced in price.

Dyson

If we're talking about every budget we have to mention the market leaders. Dyson make the best vacuums we've ever tested and you'll find all of their latest products with full specs, descriptions and videos of what they can do.

And although they're known as being the most expensive, I've learned that the cheapest place to grab Dyson deals is actually directly from their website. They're often running promotions when other retailers aren't, like right now with the Dyson V8 Origin Plus on offer for $299.99.

Dyson V8 Origin Plus | was $419.99, now $299.99 at Dyson (save $120)

It doesn't have any fancy features like dust detection or a particle light, but the Dyson V8 is a powerful cordless vac that can be relied on for years.

The Home Depot

At Home Depot, you'll find the popular models that top lists of the best vacuums, but you'll also find more rugged and durable vacuum cleaners that other retailers don't tend to stock.

As Home Depot appeals to DIY-ers, contractors and professionals, they have vacuum cleaners that can cover more serious tasks, like the Makita 18V LXT Portable Wet/Dry Vacuum.

Shark

One of the leading vacuum brands globally, the Shark website stocks the latest and best models available for cordless, upright, robot and wet/dry vacuums. Similar to Dyson, the Shark website is where I find the best Shark vacuum deals all year, as they run a sale event almost every month. They even had a 'Black Friday in July' sale this year which saw discounts on pretty much everything.

Bissell

Bissell manufacture some of the best-value vacuum cleaners on the market, offering trusted cleaning power for a fraction of the price of bigger brands. They don't exclusively stock vacuum cleaners either: you can also find carpet cleaners, floor cleaners, and even tools to handle pet accidents.

Best Buy

Best Buy has got it all, and it's a great place to find deals on older vacuum cleaners that many retailers don't stock. Doing this is an easy way to get a powerful vacuum for a super affordable price, while avoiding spending extra on features you might not need.

iRobot

If you're looking for a robot vacuum, the best place to shop is iRobot. Our favorite robot vacuums we've ever tested (the iRobot Roomba Combo j9+ and the iRobot Roomba j7+) are both from this brand, and they're definitely at the forefront of robot cleaning tech.

That being said, you can also find more basic robots that are much more affordable, so going directly to iRobot has you covered at all budgets.
