You will need:
- A pull tab from a soda can: Increase as necessary.
- Two hangers: I use and recommend velvet hangers, such as the bestselling HOUSE DAY Black Velvet Hangers available at Walmart, to stop clothes slipping and reduce visual clutter in my closet.
Step 1: Feed the pull tab onto the neck of your hanger
I put a pull tab from a cleaned out soda can on my velvet hanger
Once I was done with my soda, I simply broke the pull tab off and threaded it over the top of the hanger.
If you don't like drinking soda, like Coca Cola, you can still use the tab and then the rest of the liquid to get rid of hard water stains or to clean brass so it doesn't go to waste.
Step 2: Hang another hanger onto it
Then, as easy as that, I added a second hanger to the pull tab. I was genuinely impressed by the results. Not only is this the perfect, easy, cheap hack to organize a small closet with lots of clothes, it's a brilliant way to outfit plan in advance, which is something I always like to do the night before work. It also works well to organize a small walk-in closet, or to hang clothes on a rail.
A humble clothes rail saved my lack of hanging space, and this is a truly genius, eco-friendly way to maximize it.
For the real deal, you can grab a space-saving hanger like this strong, reinforced one that sqivels 360° and houses a minimum of six hangers in one vertical space.
My verdict
This the kind of hack that I feel I need to share with all my family and friends. It's so simple, effective, and easy to do – so next time you have a can of soda, why not be sustainable at home and try out this eco-friendly organizing tip?
