This unexpected kitchenware item is a 'fun and unique' way to store your beauty products
Experts say using a cake stand to cut clutter chaos will overhaul your vanity

Here at Homes & Gardens, we're all about functional, practical storage solutions. But, what we really love, is when they're beautiful and stylish too.
When it comes to vanities, beauty product are notoriously tricky to keep tidy. Whether you store yours in drawers or keep them in boxes, one hectic morning of getting ready in a rush can leave things in disarray.
So why not keep them beautifully displayed and easily accessible instead? I spotted a recent tip using a cake stand (yes, really) to keep daily products in order, and loved this unexpected storage idea.

As seen in a post shared by Mona – @designbyinspiration on Instagram – a cake stand doesn't have to just belong in your kitchen, and Barbara Metzel, owner and lead organizer at Professional Organizing Plus, agrees.
'Organizing beauty products using a cake stand is a fun and unique way to store them, but it also has some practicality,' when it comes to organizing makeup, she says, particularly if you use one with multiple tiers, such as the Sweejar 3 Tier Ceramic Cake Stand available at Amazon.
'First, each level can be used as a section for categorization. For example, you could have all eye products on one level, lips on another, and face products on another.
'This allows you to organize your beauty products by category and keep them organized. Once you've determined a zone or category for each level, staying organized becomes that much easier!'
Another great benefit is that using a cake stand is a space saving way to use vertical storage, as, while wide enough to keep products orderly, the base hardly takes up any space at all, helping to keep bathroom countertops clear.
'They also work similarly to a Lazy Susan,' adds Metzel, which are one of the organizing tools our home editors love in their bathrooms, 'giving you full 360 degree access to your products making it easy to find what you need.'
Similarly, Punteha van Terheyden, head of Solved here at H&G recently invested in a viral tiered organizer that transformed her vanity table, and uses the same principle of tiered and reachable storage, that's ideal for organizing a bathroom vanity.
And, as Metzel points out, cake stands also pair perfectly with other organizing containers like makeup brush holders, such as the Acrylic Makeup Brush Organizer available at Amazon.
So, while cake stands aren't necessarily one of the common things organized people have in their bathrooms, they certainly deserve a place in ours.
