I recently upgraded my home storage – and you can find all of my favorite pieces at QVC
After years of dealing with subpar home organization, I finally took the plunge and upgraded most of my home storage – and you can find similar at QVC
I think about home organization all day, every day. And I wish that was an exaggeration.
Given that I work with professional home organizers every workday and get to look at beautiful pictures of perfectly organized spaces, I can't help but think about it in my downtime too – often nit-picking everything in my home that could be that little bit better to make home organizing easier and more aesthetic. Especially given that most of my existing home storage is left over from when I was a student, meaning it is all mismatched and far from tailored to my current needs.
This weekend, I finally decided to take the plunge and upgrade most of my storage to suit my change in lifestyle, using the most valuable decluttering lessons I have learned from the pros to guide my decisions. The best news is you can find similar at QVC, so you can upgrade too.

They might not seem that important, but the right clothes hangers can make a massive difference to your closet organization and how well it functions. While some people prefer slimline velvet hangers, I recently upgraded to sturdier wooden hangers with clips to keep everything from my shirts and dresses to skirts and trousers perfectly uniform and I am mad I didn't do it sooner. Better yet, I can play out my outfits in advance and have everything on one hanger, perfect for organizing a morning routine.
My living room is tiny. I can only fit in a small sofa, chair, coffee table, and media unit, meaning storage space is definitely at a premium. While I used to have a large open basket for storing blankets when I wasn't using them, it was certainly wasted space. Following the advice of expert organizers, I decided to switch the basket out for a multifunctional storage ottoman instead, letting it double up as both blanket storage and a footstool, saving me plenty of space.
I love the benefits of air-drying laundry, but the weather doesn't always cooperate with my laundry regimen. On rainy days, I usually use a large fold-out clothes rack, but this was unsightly and difficult to store. Now that I have lived in my home for a while, I have finally upgraded to a wall-mounted drying rack instead. This gives me easy access when I need it without it getting in the way between uses.
It wasn't until recently that I realized how bad plastic was for food storage. Recent studies have shown that plastic containers can contain PFAs (or forever chemicals)—something you don't want anywhere near your food. That is why I decided to splurge and replace all my plastic containers with glass versions instead. Personally, I like the containers with wooden lids, but plastic lids can be effective if you need something more secure.
It would not be a storage shopping haul without some baskets. I was tired of seeing my WIFI router and Hue hub displayed in the corner of my living room, so I picked up an open-toped, woven basket to tuck them away. Picking a basket with woven sides allowed me to feed the wires between the small gaps for a seamless look that also allowed heat to escape so nothing overheated. This is a great way to keep your router in the best spot to boost your WIFI signal without disrupting your decorating scheme.
On the topic of storage baskets, I also picked up some nesting baskets to help organize DIY supplies. Previously, some were kept in a too-small toolbox, and the rest were littered loose on the shelf beside it. Now, everything is neatly – and aesthetically – tucked away into pretty baskets that I can take out and carry around the house as needed.
My bathroom has just as much storage as my living room – not a lot. As a result. most of my products are left on open shelving that easily collects dust. While I couldn't find an under-sink unit to fit in my space, I did find some storage bins that I could keep my products inside to protect them from dirt and dust. They are still on display. but they are far easier to wipe down when I clean a bathroom.
I am a big fan of file-folding clothing to organize dressers and linen closets. However, my clothing collection has grown more than I care to admit, and it is now hard to keep these stacks orderly. I already had drawer organziers in my underwear drawer, but finally decided to gt some for my other clothes storage, helping to keep everying upright and easy to find in the mornings.
One of the main kitchen organizers experts always buy are turntables, and while I used to think nothing of them, I have come to realize how useful they are for cramped cabinets and organizing refrigerators. Now, instead of hunting through sauces for the right one, risking the front ones falling off the shelf, I can spin the collection around to find the right one quickly. I love the ones with removable liners to make cleaning easy, too.
Upgrading my home organizers has really helped me to maximize storage in every room. When looking to switch up your own system, consider which bits are already working around your home before going out and buying everything new. Switching out a few things can be more effective (and cheaper) than swapping everything especially if you already have an area that works perfectly.
