I've searched the whole of the internet to find the perfect ottoman – and this one from Shea McGee's Target collection is perfect AND under $100
I asked the universe for the perfect ottoman and she brought me Shea McGee's Spring collection for Target
I'm in the middle of a big living room makeover. We're talking new paint, new floor, new fireplace, and of course: new furniture.
And while I managed to nail the new couch brief pretty early on with a Facebook Marketplace bargain (honestly, my best to date), I've been yearning for a beautiful ottoman or two to really pull my new living room look together.
With my heart set on something with a fun shape and an even more fun print, I've put in some serious hours on the World Wide Web to find myself an ottoman that ticks all those boxes and remains in budget. And boy, did I hit the jackpot.
No one was more surprised than me to find the perfect piece on Target. Sure I'm familiar with their work, but I really thought I was heading down a custom route for this one.
Until the Shea McGee x Target Spring collection dropped. Shea's design house, Studio McGee, already has quite the inventory of sell-out Threshold designed with Studio McGee collections but the Spring 2025 drop might just be her best yet.
Full of Spring-inspired, cottagecore designs and playful meets classic prints, this season Shea has reimagined the Bellfield Ottoman in a supersized gingham check that feels super luxe and perfect for my living space.
Fully upholstered on a wooden frame, this petite ottoman has been covered in a softly-textured checkered pattern with an padded layer for comfy seating.
Previously available in both olive green and light brown velvet, this best-selling footstool comes with a solid 74 4.4* ratings and raring reviews, so I know I'm in good hands with this purchase. Plus, there's absolutely no assembly required at all.

Speaking on the collection, Shea describes how the 'thoughtfully designed details, like the pleated armchairs and gingham ottomans, introduce depth and pattern while maintaining a sense of calm.' Which is exactly the feeling I want to conjure up in my cozy living room.
The soft neutral tones mean this will sit happily among heavier prints in the room, like a vintage rug, and at just $90, I'm going to be snapping up a pair.
Perfect for extra seating, a place to rest your feet, or even to perch a tray and a drink on top (if there are no clumsy folk around); I know this is going to be a versatile and stylish purchase to start my new year decorating on a good foot.

If the smaller size feels a little too twee for your space, try the Bellfield bench on for size. Wrapped in the same pretty plaid, this will make a beautiful entryway seat or coffee table alternative.
