When is the best time to get a deal at Nordstrom?
Nordstrom Anniversary sales
The exact timing of the Nordstrom Anniversary sales varies from year to year, and exact dates won't be released until nearer the time, but it typically runs for a few weeks between July and August.
This is Nordstrom's biggest sale of the year, in terms of breadth of deals and depth of discounts. You could save on everything from home goods to beauty products. This sort of site-wide sale is a great opportunity to snap up items on your wish list for less.
Nordstrom Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales
This year, Black Friday falls on November 28, but I'd expect discounts to start dropping a week in advance and run through Cyber Monday on December 1. If you're a Nordstrom cardholder, you'll get early access to the Nordstrom Black Friday sales, so you can snap up best-selling items before they go out of stock.
Black Friday is one of the best times to shop anywhere online, as stores compete to offer the lowest prices across the widest range of products. In previous years, I've seen deep discounts on out-of-season items, including summer and fall decor, as Nordstrom attempts to shift old stock in time for the new season. I've seen deals on big-name brands, including Nike, Ugg, and Le Creuset.
Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale
If you missed the Nordstrom Anniversary sales over the summer, you don't have to wait a whole year: you can still save in December. In previous years, I've seen discounts as deep as 60% in the Nordstrom after-Christmas sales, touching everything from candles to kitchenware.
How can you tell if you've found a good deal at Nordstrom?
Join the Nordy Club rewards program
As a Nordy Club member, you earn points when you shop. These points go towards Nordstrom Notes, at a ratio of 100:1 – so, for every 100 points you earn, you get a $1 Nordstrom Note.
You can spend your Notes on any item in-store or online. If you want to earn more points, keep an eye out for bonus points events during seasonal shopping events, such as Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Why is Nordstrom Rack so cheap?
Nordstrom Rack is essentially a clearance store, selling last season's or overstocked items.
Nordstrom Rack returns are notoriously tricky: you've only got 45 days to return any unwanted items to get a full refund. If your product is damaged, used, worn, or marked as non-returnable, then you won't be able to exchange your item.
Why is Nordstrom so expensive?
Compared to Target, Walmart, or Wayfair, Nordstrom is more expensive, but they stock much more aspirational brands: Vera Wang bedding, Zwilling kitchen utensils, and Le Creuset cookware, to name a few. When you shop the Nordstrom sales, you can pick up these designer items for less.
If you want to buy furniture, as well as decor and homeware, I suggest you shop for Target deals too. You get a much greater breadth of deals and depth of discounts, and often lower starting prices than you find at Nordstrom.
