How to shop Wayfair like a style editor – 5 tips to find the best pieces and the unmissable deals
As H&G’s style editor, it’s my job to ensure you can navigate Wayfair like a pro. Here are my top Wayfair shopping tips to get the best deals available
Wayfair is my favorite place to find a deal, and it’s become one of my go-to spots for great, affordable home decor pieces. If you’re a lover of home decor, you should know that Wayfair has multiple deals going on all the time.
Right now, there are plenty of Wayfair deals to shop, however, the best thing about these sales can also be the worst thing about them, as the sheer number of items available can confuse anybody. Luckily for you, as H&G’s style editor, I’ve been figuring out how to scope out the best deals at sales like these for years now, and if I must say, I have it all pretty much down to a science at this point.
It would be unfair to hide these tips and tricks from you, so I’m sharing them all. Soon, you’ll be shopping like a style editor yourself and finding the best Wayfair home decor deals in just a few clicks.
1. Know your focus
With the sheer number of products available at Wayfair, you can’t just scroll aimlessly for hours, which is why being strategic about your shopping should be your number one focus. Know which interior design trends you’d like to focus on, and then look for products that represent those, using key search terms to find them, such as the colors, eras, prints, or materials you want to look for. By having a starting point of a few different styles you want to shop, you’ll be able to plan more strategically and create a game plan when navigating the (enormous!) website.
2. Always look at the sales pages
Did you know that Wayfair has its own dedicated sales page, even when it’s not a massive event like Way Day? There are daily deals on everything from furniture and decor items to lighting and bedding, so all you have to do is click on your preferred category and then use the side bars to divide by type, style, price point, and even color to narrow things down even more. This is great for snagging a quick deal on an item you love without planning for it.
3. Buy fast
Once you’ve found a great deal, I highly recommend purchasing immediately, especially since many times, Wayfair’s sales only last 24 to 48 hours. With limited stock, tons of people trying to buy, and prices fluctuating all the time, there’s a high likelihood the product will be sold out, or found at a higher price in just a matter of hours. In my opinion, it’s better to be safe than sorry if the discount is high enough for you to purchase.
4. Divide by trends
While you could use my search method in tip one to find the items you’re looking for, another great way to find a trend is by using Wayfair’s dedicated ‘Room of the Month’ feature, which picks a selection of trends and designs a room based around them. For instance, this month is Modern Handcrafted Den, featuring rustic pieces featuring wood and leather materials, as well as some contemporary accents like handcrafted white rugs and metal furniture accents. This allows you to peruse styles personally picked by the Wayfair team, especially if you like the look of the room featured.

5. Understand your go-to brands
Wayfair offers a bunch of really incredible brands on sale for less, such as DKNY, Kelly Clarkson Home, and Sand & Sable, and these brands all have different styles, so it should be easier for you to narrow things down based on your preferred design aesthetic. Sand & Sable, for instance, offers a more boho chic vibe, whereas Kelly Clarkson Home errs on the feminine. If there’s a go-to brand you like, I highly recommend looking at those deals first to snag the best ones.
