Small rooms are some of the most exciting to decorate. Compact and usually dark, you can really have fun with bold colors, busy patterns, and designs that feel all around too daring for larger schemes.

One such room that most people have in their homes is the powder room. They're compact and functional, but they are also the one room all of your guests are going to use, so why not make a statement?

Designer Emily Henderson has done just that in her own home and chosen to be bold and impactful in her tiny space – she's pattern drenched her water closet in a busy, playful wallpaper design that's made it feel larger and grander. And we've found the exact wallpaper she's used to achieve the look.

This year, bold powder rooms have been trending, and we can see why. Emily's space has been totally transformed by the busy wallpaper design, creating a beautiful, vintage-inspired statement in a room that is often boring and forgotten.

'I’ve been wanting to wallpaper our water closet for so long and finally got around to it,' she writes in her Instagram caption. The bathroom wallpaper she's chosen is a classic tree motif, creating an all-encompassing scheme that brings the whole room to life.

Opting for a pattern drenched powder room allows the tree design to really shine, and instantly gives the illusion of greater space. It's proof that busy patterns can work in small spaces, in fact, they often work best in small spaces. Blurring the edges of the room and alluding to more space.

It's also a wallpaper that's received rave reviews from customers – and it's proved a firm favorite for transforming powder rooms. 'I am really pleased with my choice. It looks great and it was easy to hang, even for this novice,' writes one 5-star reviewer. 'My downstairs toilet is now, officially, the best room in the house.'

Emily has completed her scheme with a classic gold and white wall light and a selection of vintage art prints – the space feels truly timeless. We've found the exact wallpaper she's used – and it's currently on sale!
