Weighted blankets freak me out − I much prefer the comforting cocoon of the viral Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket
I bought the Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket on a whim in the sales – now, it's an indispensable part of my bedspread
As H&G's resident Sleep Editor, I lead a team of expert testers to sample the world's best bedding. I'll try anything once − from a million-dollar mattress in a Swedish showroom to a $2,000 mattress cover from the comfort of my own bed – but if there's one sleep product that gives me the shivers, it's a weighted blanket.
I'm claustrophobic at the best of times. When I'm particularly stressed and anxious, I sometimes suffer from sleep paralysis − a sort of limbo state where I pass between wakefulness and sleep, able to think but not to move or speak. Maybe it's a trick of my mind, but I've often found that weighted blankets feel like a burden on my body.
Searching for a throw with all the comfort of a weighted blanket, but none of the claustrophobia, I landed on the Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket. Immediately, I was drawn to the ultra-plush pile and oversized drape. I snapped it up in the bedding sales at the start of the year and it's since become an indispensable part of my bedspread.
The Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket is listed for 30% off this Black Friday and it's just launched in two new colors: rich burgundy and creme caramel.

I just did the math, and I worked out I've been sleeping with the Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket for 288 days. At this Black Friday discount, that works out to something like $0.71 a night.
Why the Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket is so good
Out of all the weighted blankets I've tested, the Luxome Weighted Blanket is my favorite. Filled with tens of thousands of glass beads, evenly distributed throughout the fabric, the Luxome Weighted Blanket is free from lumps and bumps. When I spread it out over my body, I don't feel overly oppressed in any one area.
Still, I wanted something more luxurious, that looks as good as it feels, and the Cuddle Blanket certainly delivers on aesthetics. When I curl up underneath it, I can feel the gentle pressure of high-pile polyester. As an anxious sleeper, I find that cuddling up beneath this blanket helps me wind down for the night.
Faux fur is a fun way to introduce texture to a space. I've paired the Cuddle Blanket with all sorts of sheets, from soft and silky cotton sateen to moisture-wicking wool, and it always adds a bit of interest. For my money, I think the plush Cuddle Blanket looks best against a crisp cotton percale base.

The Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket comes in two sizes: Standard Throw (60" x 50") and Oversized Throw (80" x 60"). I plumped for the former: I've found that the Standard Throw is wide enough to drape elegantly over the sides of my Queen-sized bed, though it isn't quite long enough to cover the whole mattress. For a dramatic drape, I suggest you size up to the Oversized Throw.
The Cuddle Blanket is available in four shades to complement any bedroom color palette. I went for Dove Gray: it blends with rest of my bedroom decor and it doesn't show spills or stains. You might opt for a warmer Walnut Brown, or push the boat out with rich Burgundy or Creme.
Like I said, I've styled the Cuddle Blanket with countless bed sheet types, but I've found it looks just as good draped over the arm of a sofa or chair as it does spread over the end of the bed. Bring it into the bedroom, the living room, or wherever you tend to wind down at night.
