These stunning pictures of kitchens – of all sizes and styles – will provide all the inspiration you need for your kitchen revamp.
1. A calming family kitchen-diner with smart storage and banquette seating
Busy with their young children plus frequent guests, the owners wanted a kitchen with space to eat and relax, plus an admin area for working from home and homework monitoring.
A lean-to kitchen extension created a light-filled space, but the banquette at the island is the real star – more comfortable than bar stools but all the storage and prep space of a regular kitchen island.
The overall look and style is classic Humphrey Munson, with polished nickel hardware – crisp, fresh and classical. The soft color palette is designed to feel calm and welcoming, and the oak breaks up the painted cabinetry.
2. An open-plan space that combines multiple materials and finishes
This kitchen is formed from four ranges from makers Roundhouse. Classic Shaker-style doors lend grandeur to the tall units while, under the hob, the Metro range provides pops of brass via recessed handles. The island features the handleless Urbo and Contemporary Classic ranges in matt lacquer and Antique Brass.
The diverse palette of materials was established with guidance from interior designer Richard Spark, with the glossy green backsplash tiles a particular triumph.
3. A generous family kitchen with tailored cabinetry and elegant details
Designed for a busy family of five who like to entertain, kitchen makers Martin Moore decided against a single vast island in favour of two more practical kitchen island ideas.
One is a wet island, containing sink and dishwasher, and the other, nearest the pantry, is for food prep and seating. The cabinetry is a modern hybrid of a very classical style.
4. A vintage-style kitchen with a mix of British craftwork and Italian style
This kitchen layout is an efficient double galley that provides ample preparation space, room for large appliances and plenty of storage.
Stain-resistant quartz worktops make it robust and fumed oak parquet kitchen flooring adds a sense of grandeur. A vintage table makes the kitchen, designed by Robert Rhodes Architecture, feel more like a living space.
5. A contemporary kitchen with sycamore veneer cabinets and pendant light fixtures
Wood, stone and glass are combined here in warming hues. 'We wanted to create something interesting using rich, warm colours, so we incorporated sycamore veneer cabinetry with marble worktops,' says Studio Indigo.
6. A contemporary kitchen with an exotic feature wall
Embrace large-scale designs in small kitchens for a bold impact. An enlarged botanical wallcovering in pinkish hues acts as an exotic feature wall in this kitchen, creating a striking focal point and allowing the space to feel more expansive.
7. A pale mint kitchen with wooden dining table and hexagonal tiles
Pale mint hexagonal tiles transitioning into oak wood flooring creates a standout feature in the scheme. The Shaker-style cabinets have been painted in Pigeon by Farrow & Ball to tone with the mint green kitchen tile ideas.
Small appliances are concealed behind sliding doors, while bespoke walnut drawers house oils and spices as well as tableware.
Globe pendants make a bold statement, while aged brass elements soften the look. A Corian worktop is combined with bevelled marble wall tiles for a contemporary, textured look, while brass handles and shelf brackets lift the scheme and add soft industrial elements.
8. A minimal kitchen with soft, chalky color palette and wooden flooring
A single chalky shade, like the spearmint used here, makes a gentle backdrop for any pale kitchen cabinet ideas. For a more striking emphasis, use it on the cabinet doors and match with white walls.
9. A green-painted kitchen with a Japanese influence
In this green kitchen, the restful painted interior of a cabinet showcases a display of Japanese-style monochrome ceramics and wooden artisan pieces.
10. A contemporary kitchen with pale gray marble and pink tones
A slim shelf is ideal for displaying pretty plates above a worktop. Here, shades of dusky pink and mole tone beautifully with the pale gray marble surface.
11. A Modernist kitchen with abstract art and design
Angular tile designs in soft chalky greys and pale yellows introduce another dimension, while slender, linear furniture is neatly echoed in the artwork on the wall – the perfect example of stylish modern kitchen ideas.
12. An urban kitchen with a palette of wood and marble
From hand-blown jars and smooth marble chopping boards to tactile ceramics, soulfully crafted kitchen pieces are a pleasure to use every day, as well as providing beautiful kitchen styling.
13. An English garden kitchen with an abundance of generous bouquets
These pretty lily-of-the-valley print curtains have a charming 1930s feel, making them a fitting choice for a simple, rustic setting. To add to the retro look, combine them with coloured glassware and old-fashioned china for the ultimate in country kitchen diner ideas.
14. A deep green kitchen with accents of red
A poppy-red cupboard is ideal for lifting a dark green-gray scheme, while accessories sporting the same shade create a sense of cohesion.
15. A harmonious breakfast table with stylish tableware
This serene palette of soft pinks, pale grays and white creates a calm and welcoming table, enhanced by the cosy textures of the soft furnishings.
16. A kitchen with large-scale florals
A large-scale pattern adds intrigue to the interior of a cupboard, making a striking backdrop for neutral ceramics.
17. A Japanese-inspired kitchen with indigo flourishes
A display of ceramic teapots has a distinctly Japanese look. Highlights of indigo and copper introduce an uplifting touch to this tough, textured kitchen.
18. A classic kitchen with check and gingham details
Square tiles lend themselves perfectly to a gingham design and are a striking choice when it comes to kitchen backsplash ideas.
Here, the strong black, white and gray palette, echoed in the undercounter curtain and rug, is lifted by pops of green gingham upholstery.
19. A dramatic navy kitchen with brass island
A simple brass panel brings this kitchen to life, the brass shining out against the darkness. A brass rail provides the perfect storage for all those kitchen tools in daily use, and the kitchen is complimented by an elegant monochrome striped rug.
20. A light-filled kitchen with wood furniture
Time-worn wood furniture and handcrafted vessels make charming partners for the open-weave pendant light, designed to cast playful shadows to atmospheric effect.
21. A modern kitchen with colourful patterned tiles
A row of mismatched decorative tiles is an inexpensive way to create a striking backsplash that will lift a simple scheme out of the ordinary.
22. A classic coastal kitchen with a breezy palette of blues
Making blue part of the scheme rather than the focus of it offers a more contemporary feel. Although it looks every bit like it’s been created using hand-made tiles, this kitchen backsplash is actually a wallpaper. Subtle hints of red balance the cool blues.
