Maddie Ziegler buys a chic 1950s cottage in Hollywood Hills for $2.5 million
The home is a trove of Californian minimalism – complete with light-filled French doors and a marble-drenched bathroom

Hollywood Hills has a new resident, Maddie Ziegler, who purchased a quintessentially Californian cottage for $2.5 million.
The dancer-turned-actress gained global recognition when she was only 8 when she appeared on Dance Moms – set in her hometown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. More recently, Maddie turned her focus to the silver screen –seen in The Fallout and Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, to name but a few of her appearances. It seems only fitting, therefore, that the actress now owns one of the world's best homes in the Nichols Canyon area of Hollywood Hills.
The property is a 1958 cottage that combines old Hollywood glamor with contemporary minimalism following its recent renovation. Character actor Jeffrey Jones who featured in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, owned the home for fourteen years after paying $1.3 million in 2008. Dirt reports that he was responsible for the chic upgrade that turned the house into a minimalist canvas with room for even more modern decorating ideas.
With its gray-colored stucco façade and quaint white trim. Maddie Ziegler's new home oozes old-school style long before you step inside. After doing so, you are greeted by a series of open-plan living and dining areas that boast the same clean white paint ideas.
The home's minimalist color scheme accentuates the natural light that floods through the glass doors – creating a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor living. Much of the 2,000-square-foot home also exhibits wide-plank hardwood floors and soaring ceilings that create a flow between rooms and ensure the property feels light and airy.
The newly renovated kitchen ideas are noteworthy (with its soft white cabinetry and breakfast nook), but its primary living space is perhaps the piece de resistance of the property. The room has an exposed wood-beam ceiling and an ornate fireplace that complements the French doors.
The home also has a more formal dining space, with built-in cabinetry and doors that lead to the yard. Meanwhile, a marble en suite adjoins the bedroom suite and includes dual vanities and a therapeutic steam shower.

The home is a trendsetter in terms of its Scandi-cool style and unmistakably Californian yard, but it's important to note that the property is eco-friendly, too. It has a fully-owned solar panel system to generate power using the sun that shines above the Golden State.
