A look inside Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet’s former home – an arty Venice Beach haven
This coastal hangout boasts an art studio that was home to the celebrated sculptor, Guy Dill
In 2021, Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet's former home – one of Venice Beach’s most artistic properties – entered the market for nearly $7.8 million.
The vibrant two-story studio and former home of the singer-songwriter is a rainbow-filled shrine to ‘80s design – complete with a large artist’s studio, an exotic tile-kissed bathroom, and Pacific loft views.
Unsurprisingly, the property (that is one of the world's best homes) has a history of creative owners – including bronze sculptor Guy Dill, whose pieces grace exhibition spaces in the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim, and the Stedelijk Museum. Guy worked alongside esteemed Los Angeles-based architect Steven Ehrlich to create the studio in the 1980s, and remnants of their original design remain visible today.
The '90s icon, singer-songwriter Lenny Kravitz, moved into the property with his former wife, actress Lisa Bonet, who is best known for her work with the comedian Bill Cosby on The Cosby Show. Here, the couple raised their daughter, Zoë Kravitz, before listing the home at the turn of the millennium.
The home is currently owned by another artistic couple, who are following in the footsteps of Guy and are using the property as a beachside atelier.
Built in 1949, this 5,424-square-foot home oozes mid-century Californian style throughout its four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The kitchen was renovated in 2014 when the owners blessed the marble-topped space with contemporary features, including a smart fridge.
The entire area is drenched in golden west-coastal sunshine through its large window panes and doors, which offer a flow between the indoor/outdoor living spaces. There is also a large deck from the office loft, where homeowners can unwind amongst the ocean breeze after a day in the studio.

The property’s exterior is equally as colorful, as towering palm trees shade the other organic jewels that grow in the landscaped garden. Meanwhile, beyond its gate, you can indulge in Venice Beaches’ globally renowned dining scene after a day of shopping in some of the most renowned boutiques in the country.
The 2021 listing was held by Anastasia Bowen.
Where do Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet live now?
Despite selling the property in 2000, Lenny and Lisa were divorced seven years previously, in 1993, and Lisa remarried the actor Jason Momoa in 2017. While Lisa and Jason live in Topanga, California, Lenny splits his time between Paris, and the Bahamas, where his mother was born.
