Moccamaster has made 2,000 diamond edition coffee makers – here's how to get your hands on one
Diamonds are only a girl's best friend when they're combined with a coffee maker
It's been sixty years since Technivorm-Moccamaster stepped onto the coffee scene and to commemorate their diamond jubilee, the brand has done something very special.
The Technivrom Moccamaster KGBV Select has a universally recognized, respected, and revered silhouette. Today, the brand has launched the iconic KGBV Select in a diamond finish. Not only is this now one of the best drip coffee makers on the market, but it's also one of the most desirable gems on the market.
The brand has only made 2,000 of the diamond edition machines (or 1,999 if you count the one I am determined to get my hands on). Each one is handmade and will come with an exclusive lifetime warranty. Here's how to get your hands on one.
What is the Diamond Edition KGBV Select?
Specifications
Reasons to buy
Reasons to avoid
You can buy a Moccamaster KGBV Select in almost any color you can think of, but there are only 2,000 of their special diamond edition models. These boast all the impressive credentials of the KGBV Select, but come with a special finish and an extra lifelong guarantee (it's normally five years).
If you're not already familiar with the KGBV Select, here's why it's a gem in the drip coffee maker world (even without the special edition certification):
- Quick brew time: you can have a full carafe in six minutes
- Gentle hot plate: keeps your coffee warm, but not stale or burnt
- Handmade: in the Netherlands with high-quality materials. Each part is repairable and available separately.
- Consumption conscious: you can brew a half pot and the machine will automatically switch off after 40 minutes
- ECBC and SCA certified: so even the experts thing it's a stand-out coffee maker
Where can you find the Diamond Edition KGBV Select?
The Moccamaster goes on sale today and will be sold for as long as the 2,000 units last, which, I suspect won't be very long. The units will be available at Williams-Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, and Amazon as well as Moccamaster's own website.
What's the history of Moccamaster?
Back in the Netherlands in 1964, Gerard Smit decided that 'life is too short to drink bad coffee', so he founded Technivorm Moccasmaster. His intention was to make filter coffee machines for serious coffee lovers. To say that he's succeeded is an understatement. The brand's retro, boxy coffee makers are iconic. They brew delicious coffee and come with great eco-credentials (each one is repairable for life and handmade with ultra-high quality glass and steel).

The Moccamaster KGBV Select is fitted with a copper coil that heats to 92-96 degrees, which is the optimal temperature for the perfect cup of coffee. It's quick to brew and programmed so that every cup meets the SCA specifications for the Gold Cup standards of coffee. In our tests, this more than delivered on all of its promises, brewing a delicious cup of coffee in close to complete silence.
