If there's one color trend to know about for spring and summer 2025, then it's pistachio green. An optimistic, soothing shade, this mellow green has been infiltrating interiors of late, bringing a healthy dose of color to align with the changing seasons.
Although pistachio green has been dubbed the latest color trend, it has a timeless quality that gives it plenty of longevity year-long, while pairing well with many decorating styles, from modern to traditional.
Below, we've rounded up a selection of our favorite pistachio green interior schemes to inspire your spring color ideas. Whether you channel this soothing green through small decor or go bold by painting the walls, it certainly has designers' approval for spring decor ideas.
Decorating with pistachio green
'Pistachio green has a natural, calming quality that makes it ideal for creating a serene atmosphere,' explains interior designer Natalia Miyar. 'It is a subtle way to bring nature indoors with a contemporary edge, adding a sense of calmness and softness to a space.'
1. Use a pistachio-colored paint on trim
'We chose this soothing pistachio color for our trim because it brought the right amount of vibrancy to the space without being overpowering,' says interior designer Leslie Martin of M+M Interior Design.
'Using green in a bathroom can be tricky, but in this case, it worked beautifully when paired with the dusty blue and camel in the wallpaper. Having the right amount of natural light in a space helps when using a pale green – it gives it a freshness and helps it feel less muddy,' Leslie adds.
Farrow & Ball's Whirlybird is an uplifting shade of green, while not too saturated.
2. Create a calming living space
Pale pistachio paint colors make a good alternative to neutral paints, creating a calming and sophisticated aesthetic, as demonstrated in this timeless living room.
'The pistachio green served as a transformative element in this project,' says Pasadena-based designer Hayley English of Hayley English Interiors. 'Replacing the original dark navy walls, the light, muted green instantly brightened and opened up the space. It pairs beautifully with the other cool-toned elements while complementing the warm browns and oranges, adding depth to the room. Pistachio green is a versatile choice that adds both freshness and calm to any living space.'
3. Use this pale green in a kid's room
In this kid's room, pistachio green is reflected throughout the color scheme, creating a relaxing space that also has plenty of longevity for years to come.
'We loved pairing the lighter pistachio green with darker green, yellow, warm wood tones like walnut, and unlacquered brass hardware,' shares interior designer Johan Spearman of San Francisco-based Jihan Spearman Spaces. 'The outcome feels like a spring bouquet.'
4. Go for pistachio walls in an entryway
Farrow & Ball's Vert de Terre
In this entryway, Farrow & Ball's Vert de Terre is used on the walls, adding interest to the space while still feeling fairly neutral. This is a favorite paint shade for Charlotte-based interior designer Alexis Warren, who says:
'Farrow & Ball's Vert de Terre is the perfect pistachio green. When decorating with this color you need to make sure you have darker undertones in the other colors in your room to keep it from feeling flat. The addition of darker and more saturated colors will create more layers and interest. I have used it as the trim color to complement a wallpaper that has a wide range and depth of color. It balances any space beautifully.'
5. Add a pop of pistachio to a neutral room
When decorating with pistachio green, you don't need to make it the focal point of your scheme. Here, interior designer Betsy Wentz shows how a smaller dose of this soothing hue can create just as much appeal when added to a neutral room.
'Pistachio green is a refreshing color that works well for anything from cabinetry to accessories,' says Betsy. 'It pairs harmoniously with natural materials like wood and stone to create a soothing and organic aesthetic. Here, we used pistachio green to build a visual connection to the outdoors.'
6. Create a nature-inspired bedroom
Decorating with green is an effective way to create a soothing sleep space, and the light tones of pistachio help keep things calming and reminiscent of the natural world.
'We used pistachio green in the guest room of A Garden House to create a special ambiance for visitors,' shares interior designer Natalia Miyar. 'It was inspired by the idea of bringing the outdoors in, fostering a connection with nature within the space.'
'Pistachio green is a color of nature, making it a wonderful base to complement earthy tones, ochre, and oak woods. Layering in beautiful textures, natural fibers, and interesting patterns enhances its warmth and depth,' says Natalia.
7. Make a statement with a colorful kitchen
If you want to go bolder with your pistachio color scheme, take inspiration from this colorful kitchen that uses color drenching with a minty pistachio shade.
'Inspired by the soft, delicate hues of a French sweets shop, this fresh shade brings a sense of charm and elegance to this kitchen,' explains interior designer Lindsay Rhodes of Nashville-based Lindsay Rhodes Interiors.
'What I love most about pistachio green is how versatile it is – it works almost like a neutral, effortlessly pairing with anything from warm earth tones to crisp whites and even bold jewel tones.
'As a key spring color trend, pistachio green feels bright, happy, and full of life, making it perfect for refreshing your home decor. To incorporate it into your space, consider using it on kitchen cabinets for a soft, vintage-inspired look or as an accent wall to add a subtle pop of color,' says Lindsay.
8. Use pistachio in a traditional scheme
Pistachio green can feel just as at home in traditional decorating ideas as it can in more modern spaces. In this traditional dining room, the pistachio green striped walls add lightness to the space while balancing the room's richer tones.
'Using a pistachio green color in your spaces offers a fun and refreshing touch while keeping the room sophisticated and elegant,' says the Chicago-based interior designer Elizabeth Drake.
