Color drenching has never been simpler with this color expert's one-paint-finish approach for the whole room
Not sure which paint finishes to use in your color-drenched scheme? Lick's color expert has the answers
Unlike some paint trends that turn out to be short-lived, color drenching has become a staple paint technique in stylish homes, so much so we'd say it's less of a trend and more of an enduring decorating style.
While accent walls and a generally more reserved approach to decorating with paint were once the norm, recent years have seen a much more committal take to embracing color, and color drenching has proven that it's not only stylish but more calming with less harsh contrasts.
And while you're probably already familiar with the simplicity of color drenching: there's no need to pick multiple shades with one singular hue taken across all elements of the room, it can leave us with questions about which paint finishes to use in a color-drenched scheme.
But there's no need to wonder any longer – Lick's Director of Interior Design and Color Psychologist Tash Bradley debunked this common conundrum in a recent Instagram video – read on to learn from her expertise.

In the video posted to Instagram, Tash explains that 'you don’t need loads of different finishes' when color-drenching an interior space. 'You can either pick our matte or our eggshell and either finish can go on everything,' she adds.
Where you may previously have considered using a gloss finish for certain elements, such as the woodwork, and a matte on the walls, Tash assures that there's no need to mix and match. Using matte paint as an example in the video, she explains that 'you can paint your ceiling, your walls, your woodwork, your radiators, all in that one finish.'
While this makes for a much more simplified approach to the decorating process for each room, with no need to purchase different paint finishes in the same color, Tash has her preferences for using certain finishes in certain rooms.

'I like to go for the matte in a living room and a bedroom,' the color expert tells us in the video. She continues: 'If you’re doing a hallway, a kitchen, a bathroom, choose the eggshell and just have confidence with it and color drench those rooms.'
