Decorating with ethereal white and silver is a fantastic way to perfect a pared-back palette for the holiday season.

Elegant and timeless in their simplicity, predominantly white schemes are a stalwart in the world of interiors, especially at Christmas. Evoking purity and cleanliness alongside confidence and sophistication, white and silver are wonderfully versatile colors.

White room ideas are the simplest of colors but, as anyone who has set off on the quest for the perfect white can attest, also one of the trickiest to get right.

HGTV star and interior designer Joanna Gaines is a master in decorating with white – and making this non-color feel warm and welcoming for Christmas.

If you think white Christmas living room ideas are only reserved for ultra-modern homes, think again. Surprisingly, a white scheme will work regardless of your style or period of your home.

While some decorators instinctively lean towards a more traditional red and green Christmas color scheme, many agree that metallics and whites are the new way to do minimalist Christmas decor ideas well.

A white Christmas color scheme illuminates dark spaces and can make even small rooms feel spacious, light, and bright.

'There is no hard or fast rule with finding the perfect white Christmas ornaments, it really depends on what atmosphere you want to create,' says Justyna Korczynska, senior designer at Crown. 'If the desire is to create a calm, serene space then use white with silver for a cooler tone.' However, if you wish to add more warmth to your Christmas decorating ideas, I recommend adding a few splashes of shimmering gold to the final look.
