Dunn-Edwards announces its 2024 Color of the Year – this optimistic hue will change the way you decorate
This new shade of blue is uplifting and relaxing in equal measure
California-based paint company Dunn-Edwards Corporation has today unveiled its Color of the Year for 2024. A serene and understated shade of blue, Skipping Stones has been carefully designed to create tranquil and restorative atmospheres in the home through this color trend.
Taking reference from many global influences – from technology to fashion – the color experts at Dunn-Edwards have crafted this new hue to respond to the rising desire for a slower pace of life, creating a color that feels calming and optimistic in the home. Skipping Stones is an uplifting take on blue with undertones of both green and gray and takes inspiration from nature, reflecting the energizing quality of the ocean.
'Skipping Stones feels like a daydream and can add a sense of mystery and thoughtfulness to any space,' explains DeMing Carpenter, color expert at Dunn-Edwards.
The new hue signals a shift away from more daring and vibrant hues, instead promoting a softer approach to color, as Carpenter continues to explain: 'It’s part of the resurgence of blue and represents a shift away from the bold, warm-toned colors we’ve seen gain popularity over the past few years. This blue is timeless and versatile, fresh and serene.'
Bringing the 2024 Color of the Year to life
To bring the new restorative and calming shade of blue to life, Dunn-Edwards has also announced a partnership with San Diego-based artist Sarah Stieber, where the color has been translated to custom-made jewelry, which can be purchased here.
'Our mutual obsession for art and design made collaborating on this project a full-body yes!' explains Stieber. 'These earrings celebrate 'Skipping Stones' and symbolize the magic of using your hands to bring color into this world.'
Dunn-Edwards color trend palettes for 2024
