1. White Heron
'White Heron is a classic bright white with the slightest cool cast,' explains Helen Shaw, Director of Marketing (International) at Benjamin Moore. 'This wintery hue is highly versatile, working well to add a touch of winter crispness to ceilings and woodwork while harmonizing with your chosen wall color. Its slightly blue undertones create a more contemporary feel and are especially suited to spaces with a lot of natural light to create a soft, calming atmosphere.'
While color trends have recently favored white paints with warm undertones, cooler options like White Heron can provide a much fresher and brighter look, working especially well within cool color schemes.
2. Cascade White
If you want to lean even further into the world of cool and crisp white paints, Cascade White has prominent blue undertones which give it a wintery feel, pairing well with blue paints.
'A soothing white with icy blue and gray undertones, Cascade White is the perfect accent color for cozy cabin schemes,' Helen explains. 'Fresh and clean, it works particularly well with a rich and dark blue-gray such as Wolf Gray for a monochromatic color scheme that is sophisticated yet cocooning.'
3. Philipsburg Blue
Looking to create a darker, moodier color scheme this winter? Philipsburg Blue is a muted blue-gray that boasts a timeless feel, as used across this home's porch.
'A hue that conjures images of still water at dusk, Philipsburg Blue provides a calming atmosphere for the colder months, perfect for a bedroom or living room to hunker down in, as the evenings draw in,' says Helen. 'Pair with an accent color such as terracotta or dark beige to add warmth to this gray-blue hue.'
4. Jack Pine
When it comes to decorating with green during the winter months, opting for muted shades of green that lean cooler can feel in alignment with the seasons, such as Benjamin Moore's Jack Pine.
'Jack Pine is a handsome green with a gently muted cast and a touch of blue that adds a refreshing edge,' Helen explains. 'It’s reminiscent of pine trees, making it a crowd pleaser for cozy, country aesthetics, and pairing beautifully with wooden accents in a kitchen or velvet soft furnishings in a living room.'
5. Iron Gate
For those more inclined to decorate with warmer paint colors, Benjamin Moore's Iron Gate feels fitting year-long: a gray-brown that adds depth to the home.
'A rich, warm taupe, Iron Gate’s brown undertones take this hue beyond basic gray,' shares Helen. 'This earthy, grounding hue wraps any space in warmth, providing a perfect balance between rustic charm and modern sophistication. It pairs beautifully with the soft glow of lamps and candles in a living room or dining room setting, enveloping the space in a cocoon-like ambiance. Layer the look with natural materials and combine with complementary colors such as dusky pink to soothe the senses.'
6. Black Bean Soup
Black paints are incredibly bold, but they can be some of the most effective if you want to make a statement. This winter, consider Benjamin Moore's Black Bean Soup which doesn't feel too harsh thanks to its brown tones.
'Black Bean Soup is a rich black, grounded with brown undertones, offering a strong sense of security, comfort, and peace,' says Helen. 'For spaces that require a bolder neutral to create warmth, it’s the perfect choice. It offers a strong focal point in all different rooms within the home – from cozy snugs to luxurious kitchens. For a strong statement, apply it in an all-encompassing, floor-to-ceiling finish. Enhance this look with rich furnishings such as velvet, lamps, and candles to create the ultimate winter escape.'
Whichever room in your home is in need of a refresh this January, there's much inspiration to take from these Benjamin Moore paint colors that are both cozy and fresh.
