Zooey Deschanel's love for vintage design strikes again with this furniture item – experts love its 'old-world' style

Actress Zooey Deschanel is known for her eclectic and vintage-inspired style preferences when it comes to interior design.

Channeling a whimsical style, the 500 Days of Summer star previously displayed an elegant Chinoiserie wallpaper choice, so it's no surprise to see her once again nod to the timeless feel of vintage pieces.

'The lamp brings a touch of old-world, antique-inspired charm to the room,' explains founder of Only Oak Furniture Stephen Robinson. 'This lamp would not look out of place in a country house with its smooth, carved wooden base, stained with a rich walnut hue.'

Collectively the classical style shade in a neutral hue and the lamp's tassel detailing give it its antique look, as Robinson observes: 'This style and shape of the lampshade have echoes of a bygone era and would have fitted perfectly in a wood-paneled library or the corner of a cozy living room.'

The curved wooden base also taps into the vintage look of the lamp and promotes a feeling of quality craftsmanship thanks to the solid natural wood. Whilst in some settings, the use of this lamp today could run the risk of looking outdated and tired, the key is to style it in a modern and understated space, such as the one depicted in Deschanel's post.

The large white wardrobes promote a far more contemporary look in this space and enable the antique lamp to provide a contrast between the old and new design styles, without looking overly old-fashioned.
