Pantone has marked Drew Barrymore's 50th birthday by welcoming the actress into their prestigious color family. The global authority has curated a new shade, 'Drew Barrymore Yellow,' making her the latest in a small number of celebrities who have a color named in their honor.

In a special birthday episode of The Drew Barrymore Show (set to air today, February 21st), Pantone surprised her with a 'warm and soft golden yellow' designed to create a 'welcoming space' that feels synonymous with the star.

'We wanted to celebrate your accomplishments by inviting you to be part of a select few that have their very own Pantone color. We present to you ‘The Drew Barrymore Yellow,' a representative shared before greeting Drew with her color card. With its novel factor aside, Drew Barrymore's tone is the perfect introductory shade for those decorating with yellow in a north-facing room. It brings just the right amount of warmth without feeling over-intrusive – meaning it's ideal for pockets of color on your kitchen cabinets or island.

You may already know that yellow is Drew's favorite hue, but her connection with the shade goes beyond her affection for the color group.

'Drew, your color is a warm and soft golden yellow that creates a welcoming space like you do. It highlights your luminosity, but also shows us your effervescence, your radiant aura, and also, highlights what you stand for – your mission – which is [that] we all need to celebrate each other and for who we are,' the representative shares. 'We appreciate and love you; congratulations, and welcome to the Pantone family.'

Using yellow paints can feel like a daring move, but some tones, like Drew Barrymore's Yellow, are surprisingly accessible. Though golden and joyful, it's not too deep, so your room won't feel overwhelmed. In fact, light yellow is refreshingly versatile, as color experts explain.

‘Yellow tones in the home are perfect for creating a sense of joy. Their versatility allows for bold color pairings,' comments Chelsea Clark, the head of brand at Lust Home. 'I particularly like color clashing yellow with soft pinks and ocean blue hues. These tones really allow the yellow to pop in a space, and work wonderfully in bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens.’
