Mindy Kaling's wooden cabinets signal an earthy kitchen trend shaping how we decorate going forward
Designers forecast a rise in natural kitchen cabinets this 2024 – and their emerging popularity is understandable
This year, kitchen cabinets are going back to their roots. Goodbye gray, goodbye white, and goodbye black cabinets; 2024 is all about natural wood. Mindy Kaling has opted for this stylish look, and it creates a beautiful, quietly luxurious look in her home.
The comedian integrates natural wood kitchen cabinets with a stainless steel stove hood, white marble countertops, and a white marble backsplash. Her space looks cozy, natural, and warm, accented with a red Le Creuset Kettle.
Interior designers love the kitchen cabinet color for its cozy energy and its timeless elegance. Jennifer Ebert, Digital Editor at Homes & Gardens states: 'Though this look is currently popular, it is never going out of style. Natural wood is neutral enough that it can go with any other kitchen color. Plus, it's easy to paint over if you decide you want a change.'

'Not to mention, it can look so beautiful when paired with the right features,' adds Jenoger.
'In her kitchen, Mindy has done an excellent job of this by keeping the look natural on natural; the white marble with natural wood cabinets feels so organic and classic.' Brenna Ryan, the kitchen design expert at Victorian Plumbing, adds, 'Wooden details are a great way to add warmth and character to a room.'

Aside from its natural beauty, wooden interiors are making waves as a huge interior design trend for 2024. Brenna states: 'Bringing the outside in is a trend we predict will be huge in 2024 - think natural materials like wood and metal. These will be particularly popular within kitchens to add a sophisticated look whilst keeping the space feeling warm and calm.'
However, if buying an entire wall of wooden kitchen cabinets feels like too much of a commitment, Brenna suggests: 'Wooden accessories such as storage, accessories, and lampshades are a less costly way to add the trend into your home for 2024.'
