Miley Cyrus hid a luxurious accent chair in the most unorthodox of rooms – her unique taste has changed my outlook on bathroom decor
A mid-century Louis Vuitton chair in the singer's bathroom looks so stylish – and it made me rethink the role of furniture as decor

Chairs don't belong in the bathroom, right? I always thought so. In my conception, furniture in the bathroom was purely for functionality; a small chest for towel storage, a table to be used as a vanity, or a side table for toilet paper. Miley Cyrus's space completely changed my mind.
The singer's bathroom was designed by her mother, Tish Cyrus, to reflect her needs and personal style. In a recent Instagram post she explains: 'Love this bathroom we did for Miley, we completely gutted it and added a ton of storage!.' The upper half of the room is mostly white, with a massive mirror and a huge garage-style window filling the space with light. A black and white bathtub centers Cyrus's bathroom with an interesting, curved light fixture hanging over it. Most notably, Tish has angled a mid-century-style Louis Vuitton Chair to the bathtub.
To my surprise, the neutral bathroom idea looks amazing. The silver metal on the chair corresponds to the hardware on the bathtub and the mirror. Its dark brown color creates a brightening contrast with the black bathtub and grey flooring. Further, the slight sheen of the leather on the chair adds visual interest to the otherwise matte textures throughout the space.

This stylish, mid-century chair is the perfect accent to bring a sense of history into your bathroom. Its tan surface adds a hint of texture to any space where it is used.
This acrylic table would be gorgeous for introducing a new texture for storing items in a white bathroom. I love how Miley's is styled next to her bathtub.
These ultra-absorbent and textured towels are perfect for layering and stacking in a bathroom. They're gorgeous and incredibly soft. The bundle includes 10 towels of all sizes to style your bathroom in one simple step.
It's glaring proof that - contrary to my assumptions - furniture shouldn't just be for bathroom storage. Though the likelihood of someone actually sitting in the chair is low, it's essential to the design of the space. It immediately makes it feel more lived-in and warm and drastically improves the look of the room.
Miley isn't the only one to notice the power of furniture to aesthetically elevate. The bathroom lounge trend has been rising since late last year, and encourages homeowners to decorate their bathrooms like a living room. Though this won't be possible in every space, it demonstrates what I learned by looking at Miley Cyrus's bathroom: that bathrooms are no longer purely functional. Just like other spaces, they should be endowed with character, warmth, and visual interest.
Styling a chair in your bathroom isn't the only way to transform the space, but it's a great place to start. Thinking about how you can use furniture to integrate texture and contrast into your bathroom is a brilliant method for creating an instantly cozy home.
