Meghan Markle's TV kitchen puts a modern twist on farmhouse style – her white cabinets, wooden countertops and hanging storage are cozy and inviting
The Duchess of Sussex's new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, features a California-cool kitchen with rustic flair and modern features for a welcoming feel

After making the move from the United Kingdom back to her home state of California, we have been curious what Meghan Markle's home style looks like. Her new Netflix docuseries, With Love, Meghan, has given us an inside look at a house that the Duchess of Sussex filmed in – and it is a departure from traditional royal interiors.
While her Montecito property is absent from the show, Meghan's California roots translate to the Santa Barbara home that she films in. Her white TV kitchen taps into the ever-enduring farmhouse trend. We mainly see Meghan in the kitchen, where she shows off her cooking skills and invites special guests to partake in preparing food. Naturally, we were immediately drawn to the kitchen's design.
The space features Shaker kitchen cabinets, glossy countertops, and state-of-the-art appliances, including a Thermador range cooker and a double-door fridge. All in all, it's a modern take on the classic farmhouse style.

The Gotham Steel hammered collection is beautiful and makes a statement in every kitchen, as well as being oven and dishwasher-safe. It would look especially stylish hanging from the ceiling.
This multi-use board can display charcuterie or is just as functional to chop vegetables on. The organic shape adds additional flair that can elevate any countertop.
Kitchen storage is solved with these matte and wood, high-volume jars. The subtle wood lid is understated and beautiful enough to tap into the trend.
According to experts, when brainstorming modern farmhouse kitchen ideas, one of the best ways to keep things on the contemporary side is mixing materials. 'One of the easiest ways to update a farmhouse kitchen is by integrating a variety of metals,' designer Nina Lichtenstein explains. 'Start with your hardware, such as cabinet handles, drawer pulls, and faucets. Brass and copper can add warmth that complements the rustic elements of a farmhouse design, while blackened steel or matte black finishes can introduce an industrial contrast, giving the space a contemporary twist. Don’t shy away from mixing these metals; the juxtaposition of different finishes creates visual interest and adds depth to the kitchen.'
She continues, 'For instance, pair brass faucets with matte black drawer pulls, or opt for stainless steel appliances contrasted against a copper range hood. The key is balance—choose one or two primary metals and introduce a third as an accent to avoid overwhelming the space.'
We can see that Meghan's set kitchen features copper pans hung on silver hooks, which coordinate with her stainless steel oven. The appliance itself is a great way to modernize the kitchen, Nina explains. 'While stainless steel has been a kitchen staple for years, incorporating it in a farmhouse-style kitchen adds a modern touch without detracting from the overall charm,' she states. 'Consider stainless steel appliances paired with a warm wood range hood or island. The coolness of the steel is grounded by the natural warmth of wood, creating a balanced and harmonious space that feels both contemporary and classic.'
This California kitchen is calming and chic, proving that a traditional design can always be modified to suit modern times.
