Martha Stewart's outdoor furniture prioritizes 'superior function, comfort, and timeless design': These pieces turn everyday living into a luxury
The garden guru is synonymous with planting tips – but now, her exterior influence extends to our outdoor decor (and, naturally, it's some of the best in the industry)
Think of Martha Stewart, and you're likely to picture her in a garden. The founder of her eponymous lifestyle empire has spent decades in front of a camera from the grounds of her estates – spanning from Bedford, NY, to her Skylands estate in Maine – often sharing planting, pruning, painting, and al-fresco dining tips. However, her influence also extends to a slightly different realm of outdoor living: furniture.
Martha Stewart's outdoor furniture upholds the same ideology as her interior pieces: 'It’s been our intention to inspire homeowners with unique, high-quality products that are beautifully designed and American-made,' she shared in a discussion with POLYWOOD (marking Martha Stewart's Collection with the brand in 2023).
'The goal was to help elevate the outdoor living experiences of those seeking high-quality products and style inspiration. The Martha Stewart by POLYWOOD Collection is the result of our shared dedication to superior function, comfort, and timeless design,' she added in the interview.
Martha Stewart's outdoor furniture
Some of Stewart's POLYWOOD pieces, inspired by her aforementioned Skylands estate, have made it into our list of our favorite outdoor furnishings for 2024. Other favorites include some from her Amazon storefront and some outdoor rugs from Walmart.
Also designed by POLYWOOD, but available on Amazon, this deep seating set is resistant to moisture, stains, and fading. In true POLYWOOD style, it's built to withstand a range of climates including hot sun, snowy winters, and strong coastal winds (as is the case with Stewart's beachside homes).
Designed by Martha Stewart for Safavieh, this outdoor rug exhibits lustrous tones that bring a sense of rich earthiness to any porch or patio. It was power loomed in Turkey, making is as durable as it is beautiful, perfect for withstanding sun, rain, and heavy foot traffic from our al-fresco dinner parties.
This deep-seating sofa speaks to the quiet elegance of classic American craftsmanship through its decorative shape that emulates its traditional woodworking joinery. It's designed to last through all weather, meaning it's perfect for summer, but just as comforting in winter (when paired with a blanket and firepit, we'd hope).
Including eight Chinoiserie Bar Armchairs and one Nautical Trestle 59" Bar Table, Stewart designed this set with entertaining in mind. Its durable, low-maintenance HDPE frame won't crack, peel, chip, or splinter, and it never needs to be painted, stained, or waterproofed. Lastly, how can we resist the green colorway? It's the eternally pefect hue for our garden.
There are chaise lounges, and then there is this quintessential piece – for a slice of paradise at home. It has an adjustable backrest for every way we want to rest, recline, and bathe for many more summers to come. It's the pefect Stewart-approved place to sunbathe or unwind with a book (one of her 99 titles is an inevitable starting point).
Nothing taps into a quintessential coastal aesthetic quite like a blue and white color combination – but who says we should limit this palette to our indoors? This set includes two Chinoiserie Deep Seating Chairs and a Chinoiserie End Table (pefect for a morning coffee) that are built to withstand exterior elements for years ahead.
Who makes Martha Stewart outdoor furniture?
POLYWOOD manufactures Martha Stewart's outdoor furniture, and we can buy the pieces directly on their website or via other companies, such as Amazon. No matter where we buy them, however, we can rest assured we're investing in heirloom-worthy designs that are made to last a lifetime.
