Lenny Kravitz says design is 'just like music' – and the stunning materials of this bedroom embody this laidback luxe approach
Rich textures and opulent finishes come together in a Los Angeles bedroom designed by the musician – it's ultra-chic, but relaxed

Lenny Kravitz combines marble, leather, and sumptuous linen to create a luxurious yet laid-back bedroom. The Los Angeles property designed by Kravitz is positioned over the Sunset Strip, and each carefully chosen detail oozes rock and roll opulence.
The iconic musician was commissioned to design the quiet luxury bedroom in 2018, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He worked with real estate agent Branden Williams to create the interiors of the 10,500-square-foot residence. His design combines mid-century, funk, and modernist influences.
Lenny explains: 'There are so many things, pieces, and designers that have given me energy. It’s just like music — Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin. There’s always something you get from these great artists. It’s the same thing.' The room features gray marble walls, a leather bed, and stone-style carpet.
Though the final product is bold, it embodies the tenets of the quiet luxury trend with how it uses high-quality materials to create an opulent but relaxed look.
Nina Lichtenstein, Westchester-based interior designer, states: 'Quiet luxury isn’t about flashy finishes or oversized logos. It’s about refinement without excess. Tactile natural fibers, sculptural lighting, timeless palettes, and furnishings that invite calm define the look. It’s the cashmere robe instead of the monogrammed towel; the silk-lined blackout curtains instead of a generic shade. In the bedroom, quiet luxury creates a cocoon that is personal, peaceful, and enduring.'

To recreate the look in your home, Nina recommends embracing a variety of materials. 'Layering is key to boutique hotel style,' she suggests. 'Upholstered headboards, boucle or velvet benches at the foot of the bed, and natural wood or stone nightstands add richness. Choose materials that age beautifully and feel grounding.'
In a bedroom, especially, the quality of your bedding can has a significant impact on the overall look of the room. Nina recommends investing in luxury bed sheets to ground the whole look.
She suggests: 'Luxury begins with the basics. Opt for high-thread-count organic cotton or linen sheets, a plush down or down-alternative duvet, and layered throws in mohair, alpaca, or brushed cotton. A well-made bed sets the tone for the entire space.'
