Neon wall art is typically found in bars and restaurants, often in the form of a cheeky phrase. However, the Kardashian-Jenner clan has been known to go for high-end neon wall art, with Kendall Jenner boasting a coveted James Turrell piece in her own home.

It turns out the neon doesn't fall far from the tree – Kris Jenner shared a photo of her own neon wall art, which adds a vibrant burst of blue, pink, and yellow to her neutral living area.

'Thank you, Avery Andon, for introducing me to Hap Tivey's amazing art,' she captioned the post. 'It has brought so much light and inspiration to my home. Light artist Tivey has built a reputation for creating 'phenomenological experiences' since he first began making art in the late 1960s. In his words, he pursues 'the concrete experience of light as well as the emotional and theoretical implications it holds for the human experience.' In the case of Jenner. she enjoys such an experience from the comfort of her own home.

Below, we have rounded up some options to achieve the functional, lit-artwork look.

While 'neon art' and 'functional' might not be phrases that you might naturally associate with one another, Jenner's piece has me rethinking how I decorate my home with lighting that goes beyond its purpose.

As we can see in Jenner's space, the piece acts as a subtle light, which warms the room and adds a gentle glow to the armchair. The sunset imagery is as mesmerizing as it is calming, while also complementing the glow that is coming in through the other room via a lit Christmas tree.

Neons also have a retro quality to them; commonly found in diners and antique shops, neon signs, and, by proxy, neon art, add some vintage-inspired flair to any space.

For those of us who aren't quite ready to commit to a large-scale neon artwork, unique light fixtures are the way to go. Adding a modern sconce to a living room wall can instantly transform it from simple to a spot with visual interest. While lamps can be playful thanks to patterned or colored shades and interesting shapes, sconces can likewise provide an element of intrigue to a room.

I love any sconces that are lively in their design, for example, a wavy sconce that crawls along a wall. These ones look fantastic in otherwise minimalist spaces, where they add just the right amount of vibrancy. They look particularly handsome above a white or cream sofa, similar to the color of Jenner's.

Alternatively, a projector works wonders to achieve a sunset appearance on a wall. I love lamp projectors that allow you to change color settings, so you can opt for a classic orange and yellow palette or go bold with pinks and purples.

Another living room lighting idea would be adding a picture light to an existing print or work of art that you want to illuminate. These subtle lights highlight intricate details in works while adding a soft glow to the piece.
