'From bold animal prints to delicate animal-themed decor, these elements have proven timeless while evolving to suit contemporary tastes. But how can you incorporate them effectively?'

Lichtenstein recommends beginning with accent pieces for a small but sufficient introduction.

'Use throw pillows, rugs, or artwork to introduce animal motifs subtly,' she suggests. 'A zebra print pillow or a framed flamingo illustration can provide personality without overwhelming the room.'

She continues, 'For a bold look, consider furniture with animal-inspired designs, like leopard print upholstery or a bench with clawfoot legs. These pieces can become the focal point of a space.'

Additionally, consider wallpaper and figurines for an all-encompassing and scenic infusion of animal decor.

'Animal-patterned wallpaper or curtains can bring life and texture to a room,' Lichtenstein states. 'Opt for softer, monochromatic prints for a sophisticated approach or vibrant designs for a playful touch. Also, small ceramic animals or sculptures can add charm to shelves or mantels. These are excellent for curated vignettes that reflect your personality.'

Lichtenstein says that the choice of animal symbol is entirely personal; however, some staples fit into particular design schemes.

'Animal motifs continue to captivate both designers and homeowners,' she says. 'While leopard, zebra, and cheetah prints remain perennial favorites, newer trends include exotic animals. Flamingos, tigers, and peacocks are showing up in decor, particularly in tropical and bohemian themes. Additionally, as sustainability and biophilic design gain momentum, animal motifs tied to natural settings (e.g., birds, bees, and butterflies) are more popular than ever.'
