There's nothing more classic than a white color scheme, but that doesn't mean the ways we use the shade aren't constantly evolving. Kevin Costner's home features a healthy dose of traditional color, layered in a modern way.

The Yellowstone actor's white living room features a bright and contemporary all-white color scheme. The walls above the modern fireplace are white, the carpet is white, the sofa is white, and Costner's desk is white. Without care, an all-white scheme can look cold or clinical, but this space doesn't succumb to that pitfall. Instead, the white layers make the space look tranquil and opulent.

Experts explain that the first reason for the chicness of the scheme is Costner's designer's choice to 'color-drench' the space. Jennifer Ebert, color expert and digital editor at Homes & Gardens states: 'Color drenching is the practice of using the same color in every part of a room. We see this here with the white walls, white floors, and a white table. This look helps to draw the eye up and around the space and creates a stylish cohesion.'

Costner's living room color choice is also a particularly good choice for creating a calming and luxurious energy in a home. Ebert says, 'White is the perfect backdrop color. Because it so so light (the lack of color, literally) it makes all other colors stand out against it. The gray chairs, potted plant, and yellow woven seat all stand out against this shade.'

'Since it is so light in shade, white reflects natural light, making Coster's living room look bright and airy. Because of its brightness, this shade can help confer positive mental health benefits in addition to its design perks.'

However, the living room isn't beautiful only because of its color. The textures in the room also play a huge role in its timeless appeal. The shimmery, glossy, smooth surface of the desk where Kevin is working creates a beautiful contrast with the ridged wall above the fireplace and the plush surfaces of the chairs and carpets in the room. Above the fireplace, a white and gray painting adds further textural depth.

Even if you don't want to commit to a fully color-drenched look, a coat of white paint, a white sofa, and a white rug can go a long way in turning a room into a calming, luxurious space that resembles Costner's. The more white accents, the lighter and brighter the room will appear.

Even if you're not a minimalist, the timeless appeal of an all-white space is hard to deny. Kevin Costner's living room is just one beautiful example.
