Kendall Jenner's minimalist approach to outdoor-indoor living is oh so simple
The outdoor living room is becoming an increasingly important part of the home, and Kendall Jenner's recent Instagram post is inspiring us with a minimalist design approach
The outdoor living room is becoming an increasingly important extension to the home, thanks to the warmer summers year-on-year encouraging us to maximize on time spent in the backyard. Supermodel Kendall Jenner's recent Instagram post has given us plenty of inspiration in this department, proving just how chic – and practical – an outdoor living room can be.
There are ample benefits to spending time outdoors, and so creating a considered space designed for everyday use, that goes beyond a dining table for hosting dinner parties, allows you to enjoy the outdoor space in a more casual manner.

Whilst it's not clear if the backyard in Jenner's Instagram is in her own home, it's certainly in keeping with the model's preferences for understated and modern design, much like her neutral-themed bedroom, and we're taking lots of inspiration from its minimalist outdoor furniture.
NYC-based interior designer Artem Kropovinsky elaborates on the design of the outdoor space shown on Jenner's Instagram: 'The contrast of white fabric cushions against the light wood not only elevates the style but also beckons one to sit and relish the comfort. Adding to the ambiance, the use of natural wooden elements roots the design in an authentic, earthy foundation.'
Based in New York, Artem Kropovinsky, founder of Arsight, has a decade of global design experience. Prioritizing minimalism, sustainability, and authenticity, Artem, alongside his team of professionals, works on projects in the US and worldwide.
Kropovinsky offers his interior design expertise to help guide you in recreating the minimalist look in your own backyard, explaining: 'Pale timber furniture should be your cornerstone – think chairs with soft white padding or even lightly-stained wooden tables. To infuse life and break any monotony, consider splashes of color: a vibrant cushion, a throw blanket, or a unique decorative piece. Staying true to the spirit of Nordic design, materials like stone and leather can be artfully integrated.'
'The longevity of Nordic style lies in its enduring appeal. It's not just about looking good; it's about living better. This design philosophy thrives in various spaces, big or small. If you're contemplating a Nordic touch, a signature piece of furniture, like a distinct chair or table, might just be the spark you need.'
Elevate your outdoor living space
Whilst it's a luxury to have the space to dedicate to an outdoor living room, the addition of a few considered furniture pieces can set you on your way to creating a tranquil space in smaller spaces too, such as on a balcony.
