Glass front cabinets are undoubtedly chic, carrying with them a storied, 'Old Money,' feel, and this stands true in none other than Kelly Ripa's kitchen.

The talk show host's space, designed by Studio Sofield, is a classic monochromatic kitchen, with white walls, countertops, and cabinets, and black floors. The glass fronted cabinets are the main point of visual interest, however, allowing us to see Kelly's glassware and dishes.

This is the primary draw of glass cabinets: the sleek, visual appeal as well as the opportunity to display your favorite pieces safely. They are also worthwhile investments; experts say they are a timeless design choice.

Versatility is the main draw with these cabinets, as designers say that they fit into a variety of aesthetics.

'Glass front cabinets are a wonderful design element because you really can work with them in a number of design styles — they're equally suited to a French country look as they are to a coastal beach one,' says Kathy Kuo Home founder & CEO, Kathy Kuo. 'I like that they add just a touch of formality and tradition while also leaving a blank canvas for styling the interior shelves to express your personality and what brings you joy with home decor!'

Other designers echo these sentiments, mentioning that glass-front cabinets, while evoking a traditional feel, are actually quite contemporary.

'They complement modern kitchens by adding a sense of lightness and openness, but they also bring sophistication to classic or transitional kitchens,' Aurora Espinoza, designer at Kutchenhaus Doral and nobilia North America. 'Their adaptability allows them to fit into any design style, making them a timeless choice.'

When considering how to style glass front cabinets, Aurora says to approach them much like you would when decorating an open shelving unit.

'When styling glass-front cabinets, internal lighting can make a huge difference,' she explains. 'It adds warmth and a touch of elegance, highlighting the items inside. Depending on your kitchen style, you could also experiment with textured or tinted glass to add an extra layer of visual interest. Make sure to keep the contents organized and balanced to maintain a clean, harmonious look that elevates the entire design.'

We can see that Kelly's cabinets are both well-lit and tidy, featuring spaced-out glassware rather than being overstuffed with dishes.

For those who want to infuse their kitchens with more color, try experimenting with storing colorful glassware or ceramic dishes in a glass front cabinet. These items add just the right amount of vibrancy to a neutral kitchen without overwhelming the space.
