Kathy Hilton customizes her Christmas tree with personalized souvenirs – it's a sentimental look that will resonate with every person this December

For some, Christmas tree decor is selected based on color palette, with red, green, silver, and gold serving as popular options. Others, however, like to personalize their trees with ornaments that tell stories. It's a fantastic way to give guests insight into your interests, passions, and travels.

When it comes to the latter, Kathy Hilton is giving us some inspiration with her maximalist Christmas tree, which was recently photographed at her and Nicky Hilton's annual Printfresh pajama launch party.

The grand, green tree is outfitted with some classic, round ornaments that strictly serve a decorative purpose, while we spotted some more personal ornaments, including a Union Jack ball and a Beverly Hills plate. Additionally, Hilton has included some festive ornaments, including candy canes, stockings, and cherubs, for a traditional feel. Bows are also dispersed on the tree's branches, tapping into one of the most popular tree design trends for 2024.

We love how easy it is to customize a tree like Hilton; think about a memorable trip you have taken (or a place you want to go) and turn your Christmas tree into an opportunity to share some souvenirs.

The appeal behind this look is clear, but in case we need another reason to follow Hilton's lead, experts reassure us that personal trees are right on trend for 2025.

Charlotte Ford, the senior marketing director at Ruggable, comments on the maximalist approach, adding unique (and sentimental) touches can make the festive season even more memorable, saying: 'Maximalism is all about self-expression, and what better time than Christmas to lean into that? A tree brimming with fun decorations, each with its own story or quirk, creates a joyful, lived-in feel that embodies the season’s spirit in a personal way.'

She continues: 'Your home says a lot about you, and so does your Christmas tree. This year, try showcasing your personality through your tree," Charlotte adds, reflecting Ruggable’s philosophy, as seen in their new house lingo messaging.'
