Kathy Hilton designed a rug inspired by the Chrysler Building – it's one of her 'favorite things' (and it's surprisingly under $160)
The Real Housewife of Beverly Hills pays homage to New York in her sunroom – but her statement design is the perfect size for any sized living room or entryway
Kathy Hilton may be best associated with Beverly Hills (she is famously a Real Housewife, after all), but when it comes to floor coverings, her inspiration comes from New York City.
Alongside her role in the aforementioned show, Hilton has another side venture as an interior designer alongside her daughter, Nicky Hilton, no less. The duo put their lavish tastes to good use, creating a collection with Ruggable in 2024, but among all their designs, one stands as Hilton's favorite.
The Hiltons Chrysler Border Chambray Blue Rug, available from Ruggable, is (as the name suggests) inspired by the iconic New York skyscraper – and it's one of the most impactful ways to add an understated Art Deco flare to your living room rug ideas. It also happens to hold a place on Hilton's 'favorite things' list, as she revealed in an interview.
Inspired by the iconic architecture of the Art Deco era, this glamorous design features bold, geometric column-like structures that are synonymous with the Chrysler Building. It has a rightful place among Hilton's favorite things, and considering it's machine washable and spill-proof, we can certainly understand its appeal.
'For the Ruggable collection, we did a mood board of me and Nicky’s homes and inspirations from different hotels and homes we’ve traveled to and lived in. This one’s inspired by the Chrysler Building. We used to look at it right outside of our living room when it would light up at night,' Hilton shared with The Strategist.
'I absolutely love this rug. It’s in our sunroom. I go between there and my office to do business and love seeing this in there.'
With its Eastern-inspired, light cream corner motifs and versatile powder blue background, this rug is the ideal base for a sunroom. It feels interesting but isn't overly intrusive – and is a subtle way to celebrate New York for anyone who loves the city. Alongside its aesthetic, however, the rug is water-resistant, stain-resistant, and machine-washable (meaning it's just as perfect for high-traffic rooms like your entryway).
The Chrysler Border Chambray Rug may be Hilton's 'favorite,' but we've got some more stand-out picks of our own. You can shop some of our best-loved pieces from her collection below.

Rustic-chic
With its heritage border, intricate tile patterns and vintage texture, this repeating style offers a subtle nod to the West. We love how its red-tinted brown and light cream motifs pop against the warm neutral background, giving it a rustic feel that translates to every home.
Easy elegance
Exhibiting delicate linework and curves that repeat in a mesmerizing pattern (that's reminiscent of opulent gold chains), this geometric rug symbolizes the enduring connection between mother and daughter (in this case, Nicky and Kathy Hilton).
Minimalist
Drawing inspiration from Asian-style decor, this wabi-sabi-like design features large-scale, hand-drawn linework with authentic imperfections. Its light, tonal palette is versatile enough to work in even the most minimalist of living rooms or bedrooms – creating a subtle yet striking contrast.
