Kitchen storage isn't always about tucking dishes away; sometimes, it's about using them as decor. This is the case in Jennifer Lopez's beautiful modern farmhouse kitchen.

The actress-singer-dancer took to Instagram to share an uplifting Mother's Day message from her kitchen, and the storage is stunning. J.Lo.'s space includes a country-style natural wood and gray cabinet with long frosted glass cabinets. Behind the glass, Lopez has artfully stacked her plates, bowls, and mugs. Notably, the dishware perfectly coordinates with the shelves. In the spirit of continuity, she also has a natural wood farmhouse table and is sitting on a sofa with rustic gingham cushions.

The overall effect is a simple, modern rustic style room where all of the elements work together. Jennifer Ebert, color expert and digital editor at Homes & Gardens states: 'The mix of blue and brown in this space bring a cozy, calming feel to J.Lo.'s space. The brown of the wood brings rustic energy, while the gray tones inject modernity into the kitchen.'

She continues, 'The mixture of textures in J.Lo.'s farmhouse kitchen is another important part of the strong visual interest of her space. I love the mixture of the dimpled glass on the cabinet fronts against the rustic, natural veined wood, and the rough clay of the natural pottery. These harder textures contrast nicely with the finer, softer cushions on her sofa.'

Furthermore, the kitchen storage in this space acts not only to make the room neater but also as decor. The neatly stacked bowls in J.Lo.'s cabinets, the coordinated mugs, and the stacked plates are all part of what makes the room look nuanced and styled.

Emulating Lopez's look is about more than simply buying a glass cabinet. Ebert says the success of the look is all about cohesion. She states: 'In addition to selecting a glass cabinet that shows off her dishes, Jennifer Lopez has chosen dishes that match well with this cabinet. This prevents the kitchen shelf organization from looking messy or random, instead giving the entire space a cozy, unified feel. If you are replicating J.Lo's kitchen look, it's also essential that you carefully evaluate what goes on each shelf. The sparseness of each shelf in Lopez's cabinet helps make it look intentionally styled.'

We don't always think of storage as part of decor, but Jennifer Lopez's country kitchen design proves this is a misconception. When it comes to good interior design, it's all in the details.
