Natural materials in the home evoke a warm, comforting feeling, which gives context to its omnipresence in interiors. Soft-woods and textured materials provide visual interest in any space while creating an inviting atmosphere. The kitchen is arguably one of the best places to implement such materials – and we're taking cues from Gisele Bündchen on this front.

The supermodel recently shared a clip on her Instagram page of her healthy snack recipe, but we were focused on the textured kitchen cabinets behind her. Unassuming at first glance, the light wood cabinets feature a rattan-inspired texture, giving the room a vintage, cozy feel.

A fixture in trends ranging from Japandi to Biophilic design, natural materials are undoubtedly a timeless addition to any home. One trend in particular aligns with Gisele's unique take on her kitchen cabinets: organic modern.

'In recent years, there has been a noticeable shift in home design towards a more organic and sustainable aesthetic, characterized by the use of natural materials such as wood,' says designer Nina Lichtenstein.

'This trend, often referred to as "organic modern," celebrates the beauty of nature and seeks to bring the outdoors in, creating spaces that are both stylish and environmentally conscious. From rustic farmhouse to sleek Scandinavian, wood can be incorporated into a variety of aesthetics and styles, making it a versatile and timeless choice for home decor.'

While wood looks fantastic on its own, there are some techniques to accent around it, so that it reaches its ultimate potential.

'When styling around wood, it's important to strike a balance between highlighting its natural beauty and creating a cohesive and harmonious space,' Lichtenstein says.

She continues, 'To prevent the space from feeling too heavy or dark, balance the warmth of wood with lighter colors and materials. Incorporate plenty of natural light through strategically placed windows or skylights to illuminate the space and enhance the beauty of the wood.'

Alternatively, textured wood can provide the visual interest that the aforementioned features would. As we can see in Gisele's kitchen, the rest of the space is quite minimal, featuring a white backsplash and simple wood shelf, which allow the cabinets to shine.

The uniformity of the wood in Gisele's kitchen, such as the cabinets, the countertops, and the shelf, creates a seamless nature that Lichtenstein says is encouraged in a natural kitchen.

'Incorporate wood elements into every aspect of the room, from flooring and furniture to accent pieces and decor,' she says. 'Choose furniture with clean lines and simple silhouettes to allow the beauty of the wood to shine through. By styling around wood with intention and creativity, you can create a space that is both timeless and effortlessly chic, celebrating the beauty of nature in every detail.'

To achieve a look like Gisele's, we recommend seeking out textured woods, whether it's a rattan finish or simply a wood with beautiful imperfections. Additionally, although Gisele has mostly opted for neutrals in her kitchen, soft and muted colors such as light blue and sage green would look lovely in the form of mugs or bowls, adding some additional visual elements to a wood space.
