Elle Fanning's pool is a magical garden getaway in her backyard, experts explain how to recreate the look
The actress's pool is the perfect garden escape
A pool doesn't need to be a purely functional aspect of your landscaping. It can be an artful and stylish way to integrate a water element into your design. Elle Fanning's landscaper clearly knew this when putting together her outdoor space. The actress's pool provides a sweet woodland oasis to her California home. Experts say the magical effect of Elle's pool idea comes down to two things: the white flowers planted behind the pool, and the natural stone slate edging.

'The white roses in Elle Fanning's pool area give it that cottagecore, woodland feeling,' says Jennifer Ebert, digital editor at Homes & Gardens. 'The contrast of the white roses against the green foliage provides dimension to the space. White flowers are a classic, meaning that as styles change, this garden will look as timeless as ever,' she continues. 'Furthermore, the coordination of the white roses with Elle's white umbrella and pool furniture creates a cohesive, intentionally designed look,' says Jen.

The natural slate stones are also a huge aspect of what makes Elle Fanning's pool so beautiful. Nari Amarsanaa, landscaping and stone expert at Parsiena Design states on Elle's pool landscaping: 'Natural stone pools undeniably have an aesthetic appeal, blending seamlessly with nature and offering a rustic charm. They are usually good for pool installation settings where the area is already suited to blend in with the slate rocks.' She adds: 'Natural stone pools resonate with those who appreciate organic and earthy aesthetics. The material is durable, resistant to UV rays, and offers slip resistance, ensuring safety.'
She continues, 'A natural stone edge pool can elevate the aesthetics of a yard, creating a harmonious blend with the environment. It offers a tactile experience, with the texture and temperature of natural stone providing a unique touch underfoot. The stone's natural inherent properties can also help regulate pool temperature, keeping it cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Moreover, the organic patterns and variations in stone can introduce a dynamic visual element, making each pool distinct. When done right, it will look well-suited to its environment and will exude that earthy charm.'
The popcorn drift roses are white with touches of gold and yellow for a beautiful contrast against your green foliage.
Elle Fanning uses elegant and innovative design to turn her backyard into a woodland oasis. With a little forward planning and gardening expertise, you can do the same.
