Drew Barrymore chose these exact candlesticks to 'function as mini sculptures' in her living space – and she lights them with this unique technique
The actress-turned-lifestyle guru decorates her home with these sculptural statement pieces – with benefits beyond their aesthetic
Drew Barrymore may be synonymous with her aptly-named 'Beautiful' homeware range, but, occasionally, she also shares the other brands that she relies on for her home. This time, she turned her attention to what is, perhaps, the most versatile yet impactful accessory we can choose: candles. Or, more specifically, candle sticks, that need to meet a special requirement before gracing her table or mantelpiece.
In her 'Little Yellow Book,' AKA Barrymore's hand-curated list of her all-time favorite go-to's, including everything from pasta and movies to home decor – the latter of which includes not one, but two sculptural candlesticks with benefits beyond their good-looks.
First up is the Delaney Candle Holder from Anthropologie, which meets Barrymore's requirements to a T. 'When choosing candlesticks and vases, [Barrymore] ensures that her pieces can also function as mini sculptures so they can add life to her spaces,' the Little Yellow Book reveals. A look into Anthropologie's description makes it clear why these are among her favorites, as, alongside their shape, they serve as a base for tapered and pillar candles – both of which 'can bring mindfulness to your daily meditations, yoga practice or evening bubble bath.'
These Barrymore-approved candle sticks add intention to our everyday routine and moments of self-care. We love its delicately-shaped glass form almost as much as its on-trend yellow hue.
With Barrymore's love for sculptural candle sticks in mind, it's unsurprising that yet another uniquely shaped holder features on her list. Next, she recommends the Seymour Candle Holder, available at Areaware, this time for subtly personal reasons relating to her family.
'Light up your life. “The Seymour Candle Holder is a set of sculptural, interlocking shapes designed to snuggle together in a warm hug.” Is that not the most delightful decor description ever?' the caption reads.
'Just like Drew and her daughters, these candlesticks are two of a kind! Keep them together or separate them for a pop of color that will bring your space to life. Anything goes…that’s the Rebel Homemaker way!'
Designed exclusively for Areaware, this black and white candles are the perfect gift, versatile enough to work in every home, no matter the color scheme (if we can bear to give them away, that is).
Plus, Barrymore's candle influence doesn't end with the right products. She's also known to share lighting tips on her Instagram, including a technique that prevents us from any potential match burns.

'My tip with candle care is: don't tilt your match, tilt your candle,' Barrymore comments in the footage. Naturally, the actress demonstrates on one of her Beautiful by Drew Catch-All Candles (available at Walmart), tilting the candle so it's lit by her match.
'You still have all that match left to go around,' she shows. 'Keep it upright and tilt your candle.'
With notes of zesty bergamot, violet leaves, and white musk, this green ceramic flower pot candle is a sweet-scented addition to any coffee table or entryway – because there's no better way to make a first impression than through a powerful scent.

The trick also prevents the match from burning up too quickly, meaning we can use it to light multiple candles. '[If] you tilt the match, it's gone,' Barrymore explains as the flame travels up the matchstick. We'll never light candles in the same way again.
