Victoria and David Beckham are among the most influential style couples on the planet, so it's hardly a surprise their flair translates to the bedroom. As one might expect, the dark wooden space has a quietly luxurious ambiance synonymous with a boutique hotel. However, unlike a hotel, the space feels uniquely personal to the couple – a result of their wall art.

When choosing bedroom art, it's vital to think about how your pieces impact your well-being, considering this is a place of peace and sleep. Victoria's prints are personal, featuring images of David and herself perfectly placed above their bed.

Unlike other artworks, these photos are intimate to the couple and are, therefore, more likely to make them happier than a less unique print.

According to a recent survey commissioned by Fujifilm, personal photographs such as these have a 'profound impact photography has on emotional well-being' – with more than 3 in 4 respondents agreeing that looking through old photos brings them happiness and calm. 81% of participants found that having pictures in their homes improved their happiness, while 80% found that putting up framed pictures of family and friends made it feel more like “home.”

It's important to curate this feeling in every space, but the bedroom should be the first place you start. Thankfully, following suit is easy. You just need to find photos of yourself and your loved ones and print them into appropriately sized frames around your bedroom.

The wall above your bed might seem like the best place to start, considering this is where Victoria has placed her frames. However, Neil Ayton, the founder of Mountary Framing, says you may need to tread with caution, depending on your environment.

'Depending on where you live, frames over the bed can be contentious. On the earthquake-prone West Coast, frames over the bed are a no-no. But in more seismically stable locations, frames over the bed give a perfect location for a wide frame,' he says. Alongside personal prints, Neil also recommends photos of landscapes, particularly those that might have a sentimental meaning to you.

'In our work, we see a lot ofnaturescapes photography over the bed. The width of the bed is perfect for a nice naturescape,' he says.

'The exact frame choice is dependent on the client's taste and personality, but popular options now include warm natural woods and white wood frames that don’t distract from the artwork.' The latter is a perfect relaxing bedroom idea, sure to offer the same ambiance of a luxury hotel with the familiarity and comforts of your home.
