Chrissy Teigen knows how to execute class. Whether it's her elegant red carpet looks or her marble-clad kitchen, you can rely on the model to pull off a look that turns heads – and her living room sofa is no exception.

Of course, you'd expect nothing less from the Los Angeles home she shares with husband John Legend. Designed by Homes & Gardens-favorite Jake Arnold, it's a trove of organic modern decor and perfectly executed neutrals. Most eye-catching of all, however, is her rich pistachio green sofa.

In an Instagram post shared by Jake Arnold, her velvet sofa takes center stage, set against the backdrop of her neutral living room. The curved shape looks utterly beautiful, but it was the color that really caught our eye. As far as sofa trends go, experts are convinced this tone is set to take over in 2025.

This quietly luxurious green shade feels inescapable at the moment, cropping up across fashion runways and designer mood boards alike (not to mention the flavor finding its way into your Starbucks special), but we think that rich textiles like velvet are where it looks most at home.

If you're perusing living room sofa ideas to scope out your newest couch, Chrissy's space is a great springboard. 'Her living room effortlessly blends bold color with neutral elegance, and the moss green sofa is the perfect example of how to make a statement without overwhelming the space,' explains New York-based interior designer Nina Lichtenstein. 'This rich, earthy shade of green is not only eye-catching but also right on trend for 2025 as more designers are embracing nature-inspired tones that bring warmth and depth to interiors.'

The color is only heightened by the lustrous qualities of the upholstery. The alluring patina gives the sofa material a dynamic feel, creating gentle ripples and variations throughout the fabric for a more textural look.

According to Patricia Gibbons, Head of Design at Sofa.com, green is a reliable choice for upholstered furniture. 'It acts as a calm and serene anchor for the room, which is why it’s an excellent choice for your sofa,' she says. 'It’s also super versatile, acting as a neutral against bolder tones, or as a pop of color contrasting with whites and creams.'

With sage green well and truly in the rearview, Patricia also nods to pistachio being the next big thing in the world of color trends. 'We’ve been seeing green in all aspects of popular culture, like pistachio resurgence in our food drink and celebrities like Victoria Beckham picking up on the shade and incorporating it into their homes,' she says. 'It's a particularly good choice to pair with neutrals because, as a color that's so commonly found in nature, it can blend seamlessly into a scheme whilst still providing intrigue.'

Green not for you? Let Chrissy's space inspire in other ways. Her neutral living room, with sheer linen curtains and a beige high-pile rug, allows the sofa to become the focal point. The same would be true for any color, whether you lean more towards warm pinks or your prefer timeless navy blues.

'In a scheme that's predominantly neutral, using your sofa as the vehicle for color is a great move as it is often the largest piece of furniture in the room and therefore good to make a statement with,' Patricia suggests. 'Injecting color into neutral schemes helps break up the monotony and adds a contemporary touch to the scheme, too.'
