Chlöe Bailey's Los Angeles living room is a masterclass in decorating with neutrals. The multi-hyphenate, who forms one half of the musical duo known as Chloe x Halle with her sister Halle Bailey, has a keen eye for design, and it's reflected in every aspect of her first apartment.

Bailey worked with the popular furniture company West Elm to decorate her first apartment. The whole space is gorgeous, but her living room is especially stunning. It brings together a sumptuous gray velvet sofa with gray linen chairs and a textured wool-style rug. Mid-century modern details like black matte vases and a rounded, three-bulb lamp add a touch of metallic flair. In the center of the room, a starburst-shaped coffee table with a glass top brings fun and style to the space. Floor-to-ceiling windows fill the room with natural light. West Elm and Chlöe both know exactly what they are doing.

While we individually love each piece of furniture in Bailey's neutral living room, it's the grounding color scheme that brings the whole look together. Jennifer Ebert, color expert and digital editor at Homes & Gardens states: 'While we don't always see gray and cream together, it's a classic color scheme that confers an instant feeling of hotel-level luxury.'

She continues, 'In Chlöe Bailey's gray living room the color scheme takes on an especially elegant feeling. The way she has paired her gray sofa with cream decorative pillows juxtaposes the colors, causing an eye-catching contrast. Her strong use of natural light brings a bright, airy feel to the color combination while the smaller black vases add depth to the space.'

We explore what colors go with a gray couch in our dedicated feature.

The exact pieces used in Bailey's living room are still available at West Elm so you can easily recreate her ultra-stylish look. Pair the avant-garde starburst coffee table with a mid-century modern lamp and grounding matte vases to perfectly emulate Bailey.

'Furthermore,' says Ebert, 'The warmth of the textures in this room diminish the coolness that can sometimes accompany a gray color scheme. They endow the quiet luxury living room with an exceptionally cozy feel. From the sumptuous velvet sofa that invites guests to come in an have a seat to the rounded mustard-colored armchair, every part of the room screams cozy comfort.'

A gray and cream color scheme is at once traditional and modern. The inviting, luxe look is the perfect choice for a living room, where company will immediately feel the embrace of the cozy, opulent style. Just look at Chlöe Bailey's space for proof.
