A combination of black and white is the perfect kitchen color scheme recipe. The color opposites emphasize one another, making each shade stand out all the more and lending a dramatic, eye-catching energy to any culinary space. Though we've seen thousands of black-and-white kitchens, we've never seen something quite like Cardi B's space.

The rapper took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the sheer size of her kitchen island - big enough to strut down like a runway - but we were enraptured by something else: the kitchen color idea. Cardi's kitchen is full of black and white but in a new way. On the island and across the backsplash, the veins of the material form a chevron pattern. In contrast to traditional marble, it feels much more modern, and striking.

Once controversial, black has become an ever more popular shade for cooking space. Black and white kitchens have never been more desirable. Mor Krisher, Head of Design at Caesarstone, the industry leader in premium surfaces, explains: 'Gone are the days of uniform, clinical white kitchens. Dramatic and dark-hued designs have risen in popularity. Whilst this might seem like an intimidating choice, there are many ways to create a balanced kitchen scheme.'

The Modern Black and White Kitchen Edit

If you're thinking about incorporating this color scheme into your kitchen, Cardi B's space is the perfect example of how to do it simply. One of the easiest ways to bring black into your home is with kitchen countertops. By choosing a visually interesting black and white marble, granite, or other stone, you can instantly inject whimsy into this classic color combination. Spreading the stone up the backsplash adds dimension and character.

To replicate the look effectively, Krisher recommends: 'I’m a big fan of dark worktops paired with natural woods like oak or walnut, and metallic accents like brass, copper or steel taps and handles. Pairing a dark surface with wooden cabinetry and pale flooring will help to keep your space feeling open and neutral. This is especially beneficial if you want to create a cosy atmosphere, but your kitchen isn’t vast in size.' As with most design, the secret is in the contrast.

Cardi B's kitchen is the perfect example of how to use a black-and-white color scheme to create a bold and beautiful design. Would you replicate the look?
