Kylie and Jason Kelce's kids' playroom brings the sage color trend to life beyond the kitchen
'Shockingly enough, we are big fans of green': Here's how the couple play with 2024's most sought-after hue in a new way
Think of sage, and images of soothing green kitchen cabinets are likely to first come to mind. However, this emerging color trend has a life beyond the most practical room of the home, even if it involves taking things slightly more...bite-sized.
Enter – Kylie and Jason Kelce's kid's newly renovated playroom, designed in partnership with Pottery Barn Kids, the latter being responsible for a playful storage system (among other furnishings) that complements the hue of the moment.
'Shockingly enough, we are big fans of green; this beautiful sage was incorporated both in the kids' kitchen and in an accent wall and in this awesome tree rug,' Kylie says.
Sage green reigns supreme in the space, but we owe much of its impact to the white and cream base that allows the hue to take center stage. The Kelces similarly opted for a storage system with a combination of open shelving and raw wooden cabinets (the unpainted nature of which further allows the sage green to stand out in the space).
'It was important to us to have a space that's cozy and comfortable – so people want to hang out in here,' Kylie shared in the discussion of the room's functionality.
Kylie has achieved her goal of creating a 'cozy and comfortable' space, but the room is also beautifully organized and surprisingly sociable. The table and sofa offer ample space for Kylie and Jason to play with their children, Wyatt (4), Elliotte (2), and Bennett (11 months), but it's also a bright space to unwind or even dine if they so choose.
Recreating their playroom is accessible (as we hinted, everything is available on Pottery Barn Kids), but it's worth noting that the sage design trend also has roots in homes without playrooms. Perhaps the easiest way to follow suit is by experimenting with sage green paint on an accent wall (like the Kelces) in a living room, bedroom, or entryway (for a fashionable first impression, naturally).
